What's New at The Center - Sept 2016

Wichita LGBT Pride will be held at the end of this month and in celebration The Center would like people to know there is a host of books and DVDs about the LGBT rights movement for people to check out.
One of the DVDs we have at The Center is a documentary called Stonewall Uprising. This film tells the story of the massive police raid of the Stonewall Inn in June 1969. “When police raided the Stonewall Inn, a popular gay bar in the Greenwich Village section of New York City on June 28, 1969, the street erupted into violent protests that lasted for the next six days. The Stonewall riots, as they came to be known, marked a major turning point in the modern gay civil rights movement in the United States and around the world.”
Again this year, the Wichita Pride Health Fair is being hosted and sponsored by the LGBT Health Coalition of Sedgwick County. The Health Coalition is one of the programs of The Center. Stop by the Buffalo Room at the Indian Center and get free information and free testing.
It’s time for SCHOOL. If you know any LGBTQIA teenagers, we have a group for them! Get Connected is for any teen grades 6-12. We would love for them to come and get acquainted with other teens from around the Wichita and surrounding area. Please contact The Center at thecenterofwichita@gmail.com.
